I built the entire Freshops site from the ground up twice in the last decade. In 2006 I built the site using TextPattern for content management and PDG Commerce 5 for secure e-commerce. In 2015 I built a mobile-first responsive WordPress theme to replace those aging technologies, using WP E-Commerce (with a large number of hand-crafted modifications and customizations). I created many custom page, post, product, and category templates with PHP; context-sensitive interfaces that presented the information users want to see most for each category; and SEO-optimized expanded product detail views containing upwards of 60 fields for hop and rhizome-specific information. To improve the shipping workflow by optimizing the label-printing process, I developed a Javascript and HTML5 based web app that integrates with the shopping cart database. I also provide long-term technical training and software support for the Freshops team.
In addition to overhauling the front end of their e-commerce interface, I’ve helped Freshops modernize and optimize their shipping workflow, developing a Javascript and HTML5 based webapp to optimize their label-printing process with time-saving features like hop lookup and autofill, live preview, and printer-specific adjustments. I’ve also provided long-term technical training and software support for the Freshops team.
